Wayde Makes it to Final, Ready to Make Double Gold History

In what may come as a surprise, Wayde van Niekerk has taken the third spot in his 200m semi-final.

Running his fifth race since Saturday, a tired looking Wayde struggled to get ahead but his time of 20.28 was enough to get him through to the final race tomorrow.

Wayde is aiming to take double gold in the 200m and 400m, a feat last achieved by Michael Johnson in 1995.

Yesterday, the 400m record holder took the 400m gold with a time of 43.98 seconds, well ahead of his nearest competitor, the Bahamas Steven Gardiner with a time of 44.41 seconds.

If you want to follow the 200m final, it will be taking place tomorrow evening (Thursday) at 22:52. You can watch the Youtube livestream, by clicking HERE.
