Former Finance Minister, Trevor Manuel, will be the main guest speaker at the 2019 Business in Education Forum, which is taking place today.
The event, which is being hosted by Partners for Possibility, will focus on the role of business in education and Mr Manuel will elaborate on why there is a need for cross-sectoral collaboration between business and education.
He will be joined by many other business leaders who are actively engaged in education in the Western Cape.
Partners for Possibility is a non-profit organisation based in Cape Town, which aims to ensure quality education for all children in South Africa by 2025.
Mr Manuel is uniquely qualified to give his input on these two subjects.
In addition to being a former finance minister and the current Chairperson of Old Mutual, he was also the Minister in the Presidency for the National Planning Commission.
The Planning Commission developed the National Development Plan, which is a blueprint for South Africa’s development. The Plan focuses heavily on education as a pivotal developmental tool.
President Ramaphosa has recently called on the plan to be made central to South Africa’s development strategy going forward.
The event will take place tonight (Monday, 10 June), from 3:30pm to 6pm at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa Auditorium. The address is Boundary Road in Newlands, Cape Town with registration taking place from 3:30pm. You can RSVP Melissa@symphonia.net.
