Congratulations to Tamzin Thomas for being part of the team that won gold in the women’s 4x100m relay race. Born and raised in Mitchell’s Plain, Tamzin is described as one of the best female sprinters in the country.
She is the South African and African 100m junior champion and also excels in 200m. From 2012 to 2014 she was the WP and SA 100m champion. In 2013 she was a semi-finalist in the 100m race at the World Youth Games held in the Ukraine. Tamzin won gold medals in the finals of the 100m and 200m events at the SA Sub-Youth, Youth, Junior and u.23 Track and Field Championships in Bloemfontein at the beginning of April. She also won bronze in the final of the 100m race at the SA Senior Track and Field and Combined Events Championships held at Coetzenburg in Stellenbosch at the end of April. She is also an indoor and beach volleyball player and has earned national colours in both disciplines.
She says her secret to success is to train every day and to be grateful for what she has in life.
