When they were little girls, Jodie and Justine Petersen would flip through the pages of magazines looking at all the cool clothing and pretty models. Little did the gorgeous 22-year-old twin sisters from Pelican Heights in Cape Town know that they would one day grace the French cover of Glamour! magazine.
Even though it was for an international cover, the shoot was based here in Cape Town. The sisters were thrilled when Glamour! contacted them for a shoot, but were over the moon when they landed the cover of France’s Glamour! Magazine. They thoroughly enjoyed the shoots, saying “At times we styled ourselves, other times we had a stylist, make-up artists; it was really cool.”
Although they have “been in the industry for a while” and have many projects behind their names, they admit that it was difficult to “get something big.” The career-driven twins have been working in the industry since childhood and are signed to Cover Models Management. They have have been gracing covers regularly and they have been featured in projects for Standard Bank, Telkom, Zando and Coca-Cola.
Apart from modelling, Justine graduated with a Diploma in Clothing Management from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in 2017, where her sister Jodie is in her final year of Retail Business Management.
What’s next for these model citizens you ask? They plan on pursuing modelling full-time next year, with their hopes set on international travel as well. They say the cover shoot “has opened doors” for them, as they are now recognised in the industry which will mean more bookings. The only “problem” they confessed, was that people have a hard time differentiating between the two of them.
Yes, they had to work hard and make many sacrifices to get that big break and landing the French cover of Glamour! Magazine is just the start of a long and fruitful career for these brainy beauties.
