Ever wanted to be an international gymnastics gold medalist? Let Gauteng’s 8 year old Caleigh Anders show you what a day in the life of an international gold medalist looks like.
Last year, we ran a story of how little Caleigh won two gold, one silver and one bronze medal at the USAIGC Club World champs in Florida, USA. She was the only athlete to have won a medal in every apparatus that she competed in. Gold medal gymnasts usually start training at a very early age, but Caleigh only started her training in 2015 and have achieved so much in such a short space of time.
She was recently featured on SABC 3’s, Xcelerate, where she is about to compete in a national gymnastics competition held Cape Town. She tells us about all the apparatus she is competing in and explains what is required of each. With her nervous mom looking on, she also tells us that her least favourite apparatus is the beam because she fell of it once and hurt herself.
