In his 6th race since Saturday, Wayde van Niekerk has taken the silver in the 200m final at the IAAF World Championships in London.
Although Wayde gave his best, the fatique of the last 5 races showed and Ramil Guliyev of Turkey eventually overtook Wayde at the finish line with a time of 20.09 seconds.
Wayde finished with a time of 20.11, a mere 0.02 seconds behind Guliyev.
In addition to his 200m silver, he also jogged to a first place finish on Tuesday when he took the gold in the 400m finals.
Going into the race, it was not certain how well he would perform. Last night, during the 200m semi-final, Wayde struggled to qualify for the finals, a sign that his body was starting to get tired.
He was attempting to make history by being the first person to win the 200/400m double gold since Michael Johnson in 1995.
However, there is always next year, and win or lose, Wayde has already won our hearts.
